Frequently asked questions
- Can it record in the background? — No. iOS only allows camera recording while the app is open and in front. Mount the phone in a holder and keep it connected to power.
- Where is my footage saved? — To an album the app creates in the Photos app. The album is named according to the app's display language: “Kururec” in English and “クルレコ” in Japanese (if you already have an album, it keeps the name it was created with).
- Where should I mount the phone? — A holder on the dashboard works best. Suction mounts on the windshield are restricted in some countries and in some U.S. states, so check your local rules.
- Does any footage leave my phone? — No. Everything runs on your device, and there is zero data collection. See the privacy policy for details.
- Why are speeds in mph (or km/h)? — Speed, distance, and elevation follow your phone's measurement system: mph, miles, and feet when it is set to US or UK measurements, and km/h, km, and meters otherwise. The conversion is display-only, so your trip logs mean the same thing on any phone.
- How do I change the app's language? — The app follows your phone's language and falls back to English for any other language. You can also set it by hand in Settings → Display → Language.
A note on safety
Never operate the app while driving. Start recording and change your settings before you set off.
