TenStella (“we”) sets out below how we handle user information in the iOS app Kururec (“the app”).
1. Core principle — zero data collection
The app itself does not collect, store outside your device, or transmit any data whatsoever, including personal information, usage data, video, or location. The one exception is billing for the paid plan, which Apple and RevenueCat handle as described in section 3. The app contains no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking technology. No account is required.
2. Processing that stays on your device
- Recorded video: All footage is processed and stored only on your device. Clips you protect — by double-tapping the screen, for example — are exported to an album the app creates in the Photos app on your device. The album is named according to the app's display language: “Kururec” in English and “クルレコ” in Japanese (if the app has already created an album, it keeps using the name it was created with, even if you switch the display language). Footage is never transmitted off your device.
- Location (Pro feature): Location is used for the GPS speed display and trip logs. All processing stays on your device and nothing is transmitted externally.
- Microphone: Audio recording is off by default. Only if you explicitly enable it is audio stored on your device along with the video.
- Motion sensors: The accelerometer is used for impact detection (on the standard plan the app detects an impact and tells you on screen; Pro also saves the footage either side of it automatically). For Pro's driving data display and trip logs, the app also uses G-force, the car's pitch and roll, and yaw rate derived from the accelerometer and gyroscope, and records them in the trip log on your device. Sensor data is never transmitted off your device.
The storage areas holding recorded video and trip logs are excluded from iCloud Backup and device backups, so they are never copied off your device by way of a backup. Note that clips you protect are saved to the Photos app on your device, so if you have iCloud Photos enabled they sync to your own iCloud (an Apple service, under your own settings and control).
3. Billing (RevenueCat)
Billing for the paid plan Kururec Pro is handled through Apple's App Store payments and RevenueCat, a subscription management service. In the course of this, RevenueCat handles purchase information (the plan purchased, the date and time of purchase, and receipt information) and an anonymous identifier. None of this includes information that identifies you personally, such as your name or email address. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.
4. Permissions the app requests, and what they are for
- Camera: To record as a dashcam (required)
- Photo library: To export the clips you protect, and to create and manage the album they are exported to
- Microphone: Only if you enable recording with audio
- Location: For Pro's GPS speed display and trip logs (while in use only)
- Motion sensors: For impact detection; on Pro, also for the driving data display and trip logs (accelerometer and gyroscope)
- Notifications: To tell you when a protected clip has finished saving to the Photos app (local notifications issued on your device only; no push notification server is used)
None of these permissions is used for any purpose other than those stated above.
5. Disclosure to third parties
Because we do not obtain your data in the app, there is nothing for us to disclose to third parties.
6. Information handling on this website
This website has no contact form and no sign-up mechanism. Simply browsing it never asks you to enter or submit personal information.
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand traffic. It uses no cookies and collects only aggregate, non-identifying data (page views, referrer, country, browser type, and the like). We use no advertising and no tracking technology that would follow you across sites.
The launch-notification (waitlist) sign-up form that this website carried before the app was released on the App Store ended with that release. The email addresses that were registered have all been deleted, together with the store that held them (Cloudflare Workers KV), because their purpose — announcing the release — has been served. We currently hold no personal data in connection with this website.
7. Children's privacy
The app collects no data from users of any age. For our general position on children's personal information, please see the privacy policy on our company site (the “Children's Privacy” section).
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will announce it on this page and revise the last-updated date.
9. Business details and contact
For inquiries about this policy, please contact us at:
Email: [email protected]
Our address and phone number are, as stated on our business information page, disclosed without delay on request.
For the procedure for requesting disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, or suspension of use of personal data we hold, and for our full business details, please see the privacy policy on our company site. As regards the app, however, we hold no personal data about you, because as stated above we do not obtain any (billing information is handled by Apple and RevenueCat — see section 3).
Retention and deletion: Because we hold no personal data in connection with the app, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Your footage, trip logs, and settings all live on your device and are erased together with the app when you delete it (clips exported to the Photos app remain there). Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat under their own policies.
